We all know the brilliant reds and yellows of the fall season. Just as we all know flashy people.
But what about the less flamboyant sorts? The quiet people, like the colours in my slides, have a beauty all their own.

Lovely photographs, Joan! Autumn is my favorite season. My husband and I often take hikes and look for colors of the season change too. Soon it’ll be a bit bleak, but there are lots of treasure to be found even in the winter months.
Thank you, Sharon. I’m looking forward to some frosty and snowy shots. But if this winter is anything like last winter, I’ll get nuthin’.
The slide show was pretty cool. I love fall, it may be my favorite season. Thanks for the pix!
Thanks, Jessica. I’m glad you like them. I had fun putting the show together. Now Sandy has blown every leaf off every tree and the pics are all have left of a lovely day. Until next year.
Joan –
These are so nice. Thanks for sharing!
I want to showcase some of my husband’s pictures on my site. What plug-in are you using for your slideshow?
Kels
Thanks, Kelsey. I’m using the WordPress function. You can find instructions at http://en.support.wordpress.com/slideshows/. The user guide folks at WP deserve kudos for their excellent docs.
You’re right, Joan–those are just as beautiful. 🙂
Thank you. Still waters and quiet people run deep and strong.
nice – not flashy but lovely
Thanks, Louise.
Good for you for playing up subdued colors, which I think are under-appreciated. Grasses contribute a lot to that palette.
Thanks, Steve. It was the purples that really caught my attention. I often wish I could have a dress made of those colours.
PS. Steve, I popped over to your website at http://portraitsofwildflowers.wordpress.com/. Incredible shots! Colour me jealous.
Thanks for your appreciation. Since you mentioned purples, you may want to take a look at the eryngo that we have in Texas:

Perhaps you can search out a dressmaker to make you a dress with purples inspired by nature.
Now that’s purple! And the horsemint, as well. The dressmaker would be me in another hobby, my oldest, that I pursue.

Very nice pictures, Joan. Are they ones you’ve taken over the years?
I took them all on Friday, before the weather turned messy. It took me 60 shots to get these few. Eventually, I’ll get more efficient. But I had a great walk!
